AMD Targets Financial Services with EPYC™ 7Fx2 High Frequency Processors.
In April 2020, AMD launched it’s latest generation high-frequency EPYC™ ‘7F’ processors designed for commercial high-intensity environments. Unlike previous EPYC™ 7002 series chips, the new processors are designed for both single and dual socket configurations. In this blog we’ll explore the new EPYC™ 7Fx2 processors suitability for financial services and take a close look at the first three SKU’s to be announced to date

Typical FSI workloads involve high-performance and resource-heavy applications. For example in high-frequency trading, ultra-low-latency trading systems are heavily reliant on ultra-fast data analytics and accelerated algorithm training platforms – which require continual application performance improvements. In an industry where every nanosecond counts, AMD’s high-frequency 7Fx2 series, delivers a proven platform with super-fast cores and plenty of cache to give FSI customers that imperative edge over the competition.
Best Performance
The Financial Services Industry (FSI) relies on high-performance solutions offering faster transaction processing, improved data analytics, and greater compute capacity. AMD EPYC™ boasts 4x the Floating-Point performance of 1st Generation AMD EPYC™, ensuring best performance for mission critical FSI workloads.
Lower TCO
For high frequency trading environments, performance, space and efficiency are critical. Enterprise servers are usually located in premium locations as close to the exchange as possible. HFT customers can save on premium rack space thanks to double the core density of AMD EPYC™. The 7nm processor technology also brings energy efficiency, providing the same performance at half the power consumption.
High Security
Nowhere is security more important than FSI. AMD EPYC™ is ‘Hardened at the Core’ with advanced security features. It is the first server CPU with an integrated and dedicated security processor providing the foundation for Secure Boot, Secure Memory Encryption (SME) and Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV). So customers can worry less about data risk and focus more on running their applications.
Financial Service
Financial Technology, or FinTech, is the biggest, current disrupter to the financial services sector. The trend for securing the latest and greatest hardware to keep ahead has culminated in BIOS IT’s range of solutions for the finance sector, optimised for high-frequency trading, algorithmic trading and model simulations, helping customers to mitigate risk when nanosecond responses can cost millions. Combining these new chips with our optimised single and dual socket server hardware, as well as our suite of managed services, BIOS IT is building on its range of solutions to address enterprise workloads for Financial Services.
