BIOS IT to showcase open networking expertise at Connected Cloud and DC Edge
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, March 10th 2020 — BIOS IT, a global IT consultancy and solution provider, in partnership with Mellanox Technologies and Cumulus Networks, will showcase their enterprise expertise in open networking at the Connected Cloud and DC Edge Conference, at the Royal Pines Gold Coast, Australia on March 10th-12th.
Collaborating with Mellanox Technologies and Cumulus Networks, BIOS IT’s exhibit will focus on the benefits of open networking and how it offers customers more control and increased infrastructure flexibility and scalability
Traditional networks are focused on functional requirements, such as bandwidth, connectivity and performance, but do not address current agile IT service delivery models. BIOS IT recognises the importance of considering the impact of a growing list of diverse applications, and the increasing demand on network performance. An agile underlying infrastructure is key to successful digital transformation.
By embracing disruptive technologies such as web-scale open networking and best-of-breed networking hardware, BIOS IT’s customers benefit from improved visibility and troubleshooting, reduced power, reduced cost (CAPEX and OPEX) and increased human resource efficiency.
As an example, in late 2017, BIOS IT in partnership with Cumulus and Mellanox, deployed a fully supported open networking solution to deliver increased efficiency, flexibility, scalability and performance at UNSW Sydney. The state-of-the-art 100GbE network, based on the principles of open networking, saved the University 65% in costs and 90% in engineering hours.
Thanks to the power of automation through the Cumulus OS, the design, configuration and deployment of both production and management networks was completed by one engineer in 18 days - a 90% reduction compared to the competition. This proved vitally important for UNSW Sydney as extreme time constraints were placed on the project with a hard move-out date from the on-campus data centre being enforced upon the IT team.
Tom Fry, General Manager of BIOS IT Australia comments “At BIOS IT we are looking to ‘break the mould’ on traditional networking practices, and offer our customers the freedom to choose the perfect mix of commodity hardware, operating system and application stack which best suits their business needs and budget.”
“The Cumulus partner community continues to go from strength to strength across the globe. We are delighted to be working with the BIOS IT team, who bring the business insight, technical skills and true passion for open networking that we look for in our selective focus partner relationships. We are excited to see how our collaboration with BIOS IT continues to develop as we drive for mutual success in market.” Lara O’Brien, Senior Director Worldwide Partnerships, Cumulus Networks.
